Latest Report by the Group (16 October, 2007)

Wildlife Carers Group received 200 recorded calls in the year from 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2007, with another 200 to 300 calls, that were so numerous to record, in giving advice.
Calls were received locally and nationally.
Unfortunately among these calls, including this financial year, a number of baby birds were spoon fed, syringed, or squirted from water bottles, water, down their throat.
Baby birds, of all species, do not consume water, until their tail feathers are fully developed.
When the baby birds open their mouths, they are begging for food.
Magpies, Kookaburras, Currawongs, Raptors - Birds of Prey, insect eaters, are fed whole insects, mice, etc. that the parents kill by whacking onto the ground, perch, before feeding it to their young.
Parrots, pigeons, doves, regurgitate the food into their youngs mouths
